Safer Roads, Stronger Community: Thanks to all of our volunteers

On Saturday, February 14th North Beach community members along with a few friends from Twiddy came together to clear cut brush removed from our Trim-A-Tree road safety initiative. Thanks to all our volunteers who came out on a cold Valentine’s Day morning to clear brush along Ocean Pearl. This first community clean-up focused on improving visibility at intersections and along the roadway. By trimming back brush we can increase visibility on the roads providing safer conditions for vehicles, pedestrians and wild life!

Special thanks to the Twiddy Team — Edward Ponton, Kimberlee Hoey, Kaden Stevens, and Miles Zugelder — who came prepared with a large trailer; Josh Conn of JMC Beach Services and his sidekick beagle Jam; Roxie Miller; and the NBPA team, led by Shari and Ed Sierra, along with Edna Baden, Debbie Pinardo, Meladye Shively, and Crystal and Alex Pilkins. Ed and his tractor did the heavy lifting (literally).
We also thank Fire Chief Jay Laughmiller for allowing us to dump the brush in the fire station field, which made the effort much easier. With so many helping hands, the job was finished in under two hours!
NBPA is dedicated to taking action that makes living, working or just visiting these last twelve miles safer and more sustainable. By engaging our community to be part of the process we are building an alliance that takes a vested interest in protecting and preserving this amazing place some of us are lucky enough to call home. Watch for more events like this — we hope you’ll join us next time. Encourage friends and neighbors to subscribe for updates and help us save the last 12 miles.
